The members of Quannum (Gift of Gab, Chief Xcel, DJ Shadow, Lyrics Born and Lateef) all met at UC Davis.

Chubb Rock was a medical student at Brown University.

Rah Digga scored over 1300 on her SATs and studied electrical engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

The members of Little Brother (Phonte, Big Pooh and 9th Wonder) all met at North Carolina A&T.

David Banner went to Southern University and was president of the student government.

Common went to Florida A&M.

Talib Kweli studied experimental theater at NYU.

Chuck D has a degree in graphic design from Adelphi University.

Tajai from Hieroglyphics has a degree in anthropology from Stanford.

Sabzi and Geologic of Blue Scholars met at the University of Washington.

The members of Crown City Rockers (Raashan Ahmad, Woodstock, Headnodic, Max MacVeety and Kat Ouano) all met at the Berklee College of Music.

E-40 went to Grambling.

Hub of the Roots has a music degree from Carnegie Mellon.

DJ Premier graduated from Prairie View A&M.

[By the way, the grammatical structure of your question is incorrect. By using the third person plural tense of the verb "be" (which you did by asking "Who are") you indicated that the subject of your query would be plural. Yet you used the single form of the noun "artist" rather than the plural.

I learned that before I went to college. And I have brains.]

Now be fair and answer Ns@yn3's question.

Thats a really hard question to answer being that there are probably a few hundred mainstream rappers and many thousands more underground. Truth is, a good part of them have some college education, some even have degrees too. The thing you have to account for is(especially today) many rappers are signed to labels early and as with others who find fame and fortune before they are college-age, it either becomes less of a priority since they already make a decent living, or they simply don't have time for class in between studio sessions and touring. The idea that rappers are ignorant or uneducated is B.S., and actually once established a lot of artists attend college later on in life. To name on example I'd say Lil Wayne who studies Psychology(i believe) at the University of Houston.

almost all of hip-hop artists have little or no formal coaching. Out of one thousand or greater hip-hop artists over the final ten years; I heavily doubt that better than 2 dozen, on the very maximum, have a school degree ?

i know a uk grime artist that has/is does that count.

anyway rappers learn music leave school and do that.

it is what college is about (getting a career). and doing something you love.

like if you don't go to college and become a rapper you are doing what you love and making more money than most who go to college and rappers are better known and it can open doors into acting etc.

so being a rapper (a succesful one) CAN do more than a degree sometimes..

i mean look at 50cent and other rappers they have a clothing range.

someone with a fashion degree may never get to that stage,

Going to college doesn't always equal intelligence.

I would say 50 cent & Jay-z are the most business savvy.(bring on the thumbs down).

Nas seems pretty intelligent. The truth is you can't really tell some rappers purposely dumb down their lyrics because it sells more records. Even Jay-z said it. There's a lot of peopel behind the scenes that are intelligent than most rappers.

Some of my close friends have degrees from reputable colleges, and they aren't really that smart when it comes to common sense.

So going to college doesn't always mean you're smart.

So every rapper, emcee, or whatever you won't to call it is not just about bang bang, bling bling, my car is this, house is that.

Penn, Wharton... not bad. Double-ivy (well, okay, the same one twice).

Devo Springsteen grew up in many different regions of the U.S. and lived in Germany for five years due to the fact that both of his parents were in the U.S. Army. He graduated high school in Kansas City and shortly after attended the University of Pennsylvania. At U Penn, he wrestled and played football but also was active in the Philly club scene - DJing at clubs and parties as well as hosting local radio shows including WPPR and WQHS FM. After graduating from U Penn’s Wharton School of Business with a degree in Economics and Strategic Management, he moved to New York in 2000 with college roommate John Stephens (John Legend). Springsteen worked full time at a venture capital firm and part time on music assisting Kanye West with his production company, G.O.O.D. Music (then called Konman Productions). Devo Springsteen accurately recognized the benefits in linking Legend with West and successfully got John Legend signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music record label in 2003.

Come to think of it, vanilla ice also went to Wharton...
