@ Chuck - I know you don't like G Rap, but can you appreciate why he would make a GOAT list? Or do you not think he deserves to be on one at all? Just curious.

I personally wouldn't put Dre on there - in all honestly, I probably wouldn't even put him on a top 10 producers list, let alone rappers - he doesn't even write his own rhymes.

Pac wouldn't be on my list, but I get why people would have him on theirs.

I pretty much agree with the rest, but you're missing the ladies - MC Lyte and/or Lauryn Hill deserve a mention at the very least (more than just an honourable one, imo).

"Name a artist I ain't influenced" is funny with Nas. I'd like him to say that to me so I could make him stand there as I listed them all.

Still, I think it's more than reasonable to put him on the list.

edit: Hey Darquon! I can understand why you would say that, but the fact is that I can think of 10 producers who are better than Dre and imo deserve their place on a top 10 list more than he does.

That said, I also understand why he could belong on a top 10 producers list - I just personally wouldn't put him on mine.

Good list but I think Q-Tip of Tribe Called Quest and Guru of Gang Starr had a huge influence on NY Underground 90s hip-hop which turned out to be the best decade in hip-hop. Not to mention DJ Premier produced a majority of the hot tracks of the 90s.

i do no longer think of i'm able to arise with ten. yet i understand Paid In complete with the aid of Eric B. & Rakim replaced into groundbreaking. It replaced into maximum possibly the album that popularized use of the Funky Drummer James Brown pattern. The Blueprint with the aid of Jay Z additionally had outstanding sampling too, wherein Kanye used vocal samples that he might benefit severe compliment for. The Low end concept replaced into sturdy too, clarification for the discovered hyperlink between jazz and rap. sturdy record with the aid of the way. i could no longer have completed this. BQ: J. Cole's Friday evening lights fixtures 9/10.

If we're talking "in history" and including "influence", you have to bump G Rap and insert Run DMC.

I also second Kev on Cube.

And Bonnie, I think your statement on Dre lacks objectivity...(not even top 10 producers???)...but of course I absolutely respect your right to your opinion.

I can't argue against anything there, except maybe the complete exclusion of Ice Cube, even in the honorable mentions.

I think Ice Cube and Eazy E should be mentioned for their explicit lyrics. And lupe fiasco for bringing a whole new generation to Hip Hop, those scateboard dudes
