i hate these question that sound like some rich surburb kids who just think the best lyrics or always listening to immortal technician is just hiphop . hiphop has not always been about a message i found some groups who in the 80s and 90s didn't have messsages but they made music for people to dance to . who ever said all rap and hiphop needed a message . i learned different from sugar hill gang you idiot . wayn produces music with messsages as well as feel good music for people to get up and dance to . im tired of these underground geeks who keep talking about music with a message . not all legends including pac didn't always make music with a message he made club songs to you idiot . and some of you suburb kids talk about mainstream is messing up hiphop . but with your comment i would feel underground fans are to not some but all. hiphop is a way of life rather you like dancing music or music with a message . i did my research and dance hiphop has been around for just as long as your just music with a message don't hate cause you can't get up in a club and dance . weezy owns your underground plus mainstream

I don't think any of you understand what this guy's tryna say... he means if we didn't have some of the more dance hiphop w/ no meaning there would be nothing to dance to... no one wants to listen to someone rapping about politics or race or some of the more 'meaningful' stuff when they're in the club or at a party

Its gettin annoyin anytime someone mentions they like soulja boy and y'all attack the kid.. let people listen to w/e they wanna listen to.

So wait a minute....you are saying that the Sugarhill Gang didn't have a message in their biggest hit? Interesting. Let's take a look at this. Seeing as though they are from Englewood, NJ (a fringe area of the "hood" section) they were heavily influenced by inner city workings. The song "Rapper's Delight" definately had a message. The message was about how you can make something out of nothing. Although the words don't say that, you need to really be able to read between the lines on this song. You have to understand while you may be dealing with inner city life, there's still cause to celebrate. There's still a way you can uplift around you. This is something you obviously don't understand.

^ I am 18 as well...

You're rant is disgusting. Im not a suburb kid, but im guessing you are. Also the only problem we really have with lil wayne is that he think's (keyword) that he is hip hop, and say's he is the best. Lil Wayne is garbage compared to Rakim. And i've also noticed you keep bringing up immortal technique. STOP COMPARING WAYNE TO IMMORTAL!. Compare wayne to rakim, then you can talk.

So how old are you? Here's a child probably 10-15 trying to teach everyone what hip hop is. Lol! sorry i find that funny. And you're the one that needs to get open minded...seeing as how all you probably hear is Weezy. Nas, Blu, Murs, Visionaries are good rappers out there that make good music and dont ruin genre. And Tupac doesnt have to incorporate a message in his songs, because he's tupac...and he actually contributed something to hip hop, While wayne has done nothing for it.

Every song has a message......whether It's "Go to college, make something of yourself" or "dance like a retard" (soulja boy). Soulja Boy Is ruining Hip Hop with thier crappy *** songs, and so Is Shawty Lo. Get Used To It bruh, It's true.

Hahha Immortal Technician... It's Immortal Technique. If you don't know his name you don't know him which means you haven't listened to him so you can't say the guy who posted the other answer was stupid if you haven't listened to all the sub genres of rap.
