Rap was alive in the mid '70's, though you may not have heard it. I've heard that Blondie's Rapture was the first one to make it to the charts. Rapper's Delight is real close. I have both, but, I'm at work right now. ( :

you are all wrong. first real rap is Curtis Blow - "these are the breaks", about 1979.
