The line 'Be aware, I hunt with the God as a cerabus' does not make sense. To start, I've checked many lyric sites and they all have the same line, spelled that same way. Some even have it as 'Daughter's of Cerebus'. When you listen to it. It sounds like Prevail and the female say Cerabus [ser-uh-bus]. The problem is cerabus is not a word.
These are the possibilities that I've been given, and what I think of them.
In research I have found 'Cerebus' which is a comic about an aardvark. Not likely what Prevail is referring to. I've found 'Serapis' who was a Greek/Egyptian God of the lower world. But, check www.touregypt.net/featurestories/serapis.htm and you'll see the reference doesn't make sense. Also thanks to Dictionary.com you can listen to pronunciations, and you'll hear 'Serapis' really doesn't fit.
So what makes sense there? Is it 'I hunt with the God as a Cerberus'? Cerberus is the three headed dog that guards the entrance to Tatarus or Hades, the underworld. This to me would seem to be the most logical reference, and the most fierce, which is what he's trying to portray. The problem is I have a tough time hearing Cerberus in there. Even if you take 'a' out, 'with the God as Cerberus'
Lastly the possibilities of 'I hunt with the Goddess of Erebus', or 'Daughter's of Erebus'. Again the reference doesn't quite fit. Erebus was a God of ancient Greece, and also referred to the darkness on travels through in Hades. As a region of Hades, Erebus had no Goddess.
Now 'Daughters of Erebus' may make sence, Hemera and Nemesis were His daughters, but Hemera was never a hunter, unlike Nemesis who certainly could be considered a hunter for those seeking retribution. So really Prevail would only be hunting with the Daughter of Erebus.
I'm aware also that Erebus is a house of Vampire's in Blade. He could be referring to that as well, being that there are numerous references to Vampires in the song and the video is filled with them. Unfortunately this is all my knowledge of the Blade contains.
So do any Swollen Members fans have any other possibilities? Can anyone confirm what the lyrics are? Is it a Vampire reference that I just don't get?
