Alot of people say that HipHop is derogatory and promotes violence, drugs, and just straight disrespect to women and some of it is. But if you agree with this how much HipHop have you listened to(and "more than I care to " is a stupid answer)?Have you actually listened to the better artist out there(and yes I believe HipHop is an art form) who are not promoted by BET or MTV and actually listened to it instead of just labeling it as another ghetto party song for todays youth. If you've actually gone in depth with HipHop culture do you believe that HipHop is still what alot of people are making it out to be(the destroyer of minds, mindless hate) and if you havn't gone in depth do you just base your views on listening to the flavor of the moment rappers? and do you believe HipHop is misrepresented?
and no weezy is NOT the greatest rapper there is

i understand your point. i think it's unfortunate that the hiphop you speak of doesn't get recognized as mainstream. i can't lie and say that some of the hiphop of today is catchy, but when i see a ten year old boy saying he wants to "superman that ho" it is discouraging. i base my idea that hiphop is derogatory because the hiphop that is presented to me IS derogatory. you can say the same about certain pop songs and rock as well. i absolutely think it is misrepresented.

and please don't judge me because i haven't dug deeper into the better hip hop artists. i'm not that interested in doing so in ANY genre of music. i hear what i hear on the radio when i drive to school and work. i'm sorry if that isn't good enough, but it's the best i can do.

You've got it all wrong buddy.

hiphop isn't rap

its a whole new thing

mainstream rap is the disease NOT hip hop

Edit: Yeah people can't tell the difference. I'm an all around music guy and i listen to rock. But some rock songs are derogatory too as well. Hell, some rock artists also does things for publicity and money. You can't stay one sided all the time dude. [to the guy who is so crazy about rock]

i.e. : Main Stream Rock

Wow. They also have the same name in front of it huh?

in conclusion, depends what type of hiphop or rock or whatever music artists you're talking about.

but i have to agree. mainstream rap and rock is a bad influence to the younger ones

Steven stop being so closed minded. You can bash hip hop, while bashing rock is wrong?

also, there are a LOT OF GOOD RAPPERS out there

Lupe Fiasco just to name one. I dont think he's in it for the money. He raps cuz he loves to rap. Its still a art form, but its harder to find it. Chamillionaire is amazing

my favorite rapper Joe Budden is great. He raps from the heaert. If you get past his commercial phase, and listen to his mixtapes, you will see, its hard to find, but real hip hop is still alive.

O yea, Hip Hop is a culture, Rap is the music.
