Should I feel bad for not liking these artists?

One of my favorite bands that inspired me are Devo and I've actually come considered started making my music in similar style. I like a wide range of other rock and electronic music genres but I've noticed that there are some bands that Devo are influenced by that I'm not that fond of.

Them being: Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, and Tangerine Dream.

I feel as though I'm supposed to like these artists since I like all of Devo's other influences and these are kind of like their core of electronic music. Is it wrong to not like them? I mean I love a ton of electro, new wave, synth-pop, ambient, krautrock, new age bands but I don't seem to like their so called roots and when I read about how an artist I like loves the bands I don't I feel ashamed for some reason.

No not at all, I mean if it were that way then not only would you have to like Devo's roots like Kraftwerk you would also need to like Kraftwerks influence's and their influences and so on so forth - where does it stop?



If Devo inspired you to make music, then that's all you need to like - I mean if you happen to make it big, would you be mad at your fans for liking your music but not Devo's?



You should only like who you like, if Devo inspires you then good, that's who got you to make music - not their influences, but only Devo.







My influences are Daft Punk and Basshunter - And Daft Punk's roots is a lot of Disco stuff, and I really don't like disco, but I Love Daft Punk's music, and Same with Basshunter, I don't care about his influences. They are both the reason why I make my own music.



My other influence is Nobou Uematsu and his biggest influence is Elton john - I strongly dislike Elton Johns music - and Elton John did not inspire me to make music, Nobuo, Daft Punk and Basshunter did, not there inspirations.





Yes, I know I ran in circles, but there is no reason to feel bad.

Yes if you liked Devo, then you should like the artists it was inspired by.
