i don't know what to say. In one part of my mind, hip hop is dead because if you look at the hip hop scene right now, people are talking about cars, girls, jewelry, money stupid catchphrases and dances. People are know lazy making the beats. I say that because each beat sounds dull and that it sounds similar to other beats. Heck, look at soulja boy. I can probably recreate his whole song in under 3 hours by using Fruity Loops only. Rap is having a bad reputation displaying negative messages to the community. Also I even heard that High School Musical is beating rap in the billboard charts. In the other part of mind, it's going to be alive because if you look at Chamillionare, he's trying to put a positive message in hip hop. It seems like people are turning away from the Nelly's and 50 cent to the Kanye West and others trying to display a positive message. Also mainstrean hip hop artist are saying this kind of music is intolerable. My opinion says that hip hop is not dead but it's dyin

Hip hop is dead. Long live hip hop.

It's already died a dozen deaths, but it keeps coming back, and will continue to do so. The mainstream is always filled with 98% fluff and junk, and that's true of every musical genre. There is quality out there, you just have to find it.

As for recreating a track in 3 hours with low-end software, that really doesn't mean anything. The complexity of a song says nothing about it's quality. I'm certainly not defending Soulwhatever Boy, can't stand his music. However it wouldn't take a prodigy guitarist or pianist to recreate most of the best selling music of the last 60 years. It's nothing to recreate, but it's truly something to CREATE. Besides that, hip hop has never been about intricate or even competent music, we're talking about something born from "two turntables and a microphone" after all.

It was only many days later that Ransom discovered how to deal with these sudden losses of confidence. They arose when the rationality of the hross tempted you to think of it as a man. Then it became abominable a man seven feet high, with a snaky body, covered, face and all, with thick black animal hair, and whiskered like a cat. But starting from the other end you had an animal with everything an animal ought to have glossy coat, liquid eye, sweet breath and whitest teeth and added to all these, as though Paradise had never been lost and earliest dreams were true, the charm of speech and reason. Nothing could be more disgusting than the one impression; nothing more delightful than the other. It all depended on the point of view.

Hip Hop is sort of dead, which is sad because dance, techno, trance, house music has dominated in 2007 but i think next year Hip Hop will be back

I hear that term hip hop thrown around. Tell me, is what they call hip hop right now what they once would have called MoTown or Soul or R&B?

I think it's (d)evolving into Beyonce show music, honestly.

It's not dead, nor is it dying. This has happened to every genre of music. Rap is stuck in a phase. It will grow out of it (I hope it does soon), and when it does it will be looked at in another light. Until then it is pretty dull. That's just my opinion.

i think it is dying too. I'm from the South and we have a lot of major rappers. Texas is known for the players and pimps. h-town is known for our candy paint and screwed up music. a lot of rappers died from lean, and now their is just people trying to imitate them and are doing a very bad job at it. like DJ SCREW every one is trying to be like him but they cant. they're just living and making money off his name. but yes i do agree rap hip/hop is dying. People give rap a bad name so now the parents are not letting their kids listen to the music. but yet its OK to watch movies i think people are just hypocrites

I love hip hop... old, new.... i believe hip hop is alive, BECAUSE its very popular now then ever before , you are soo right on the fact that its all the same sh*t ... nothin but I GOT 2 MIL IN MY POCKET... LAMBO ON TWENTY FO'S..... SHAKE THAT *** BIT*CH ..... LoL... i got to admit though i do like the beats way more than the dumb tired lyrics ... i do wonder how long the whole 'same stupid lyrics, different beat' shi*t is going to go on for....

It's on life support. It's watered down and commercialized. Since ANYONE can make a song and call them selves 'rappers' it has lost it's appeal.....sad times.
