Maybe it's just me and my obsession with lyricism, but I see a growing trend that I like to call "word-association rap." It's where rappers say something but don't completely finish the thought, they just say an example of what they're saying. For instance, in the song "Finale" by Young Money, Tyga has a line that goes "money overweight *****; Roseanne" which alludes to the fact that Roseanne Barr is overweight. He then goes on to say "I don't listen to these kids; grown man." and "Skinny ***** dubbed up; Lohan" of course talking about Lindsay Lohan.

In the same song, Nicki Minaj raps this: "you at the bottom of the pole; Totem" and "like lamar odom I ball; scrotom"

This seems to be something that Young Money rappers do often...it personally is annoying to me and just seems a bit lazy. The first time around, it may seem pretty clever but over and over again is just annoying and redundant. Have any of you noticed it and if so what are your thoughts on it?

Yeah i hate that **** too lil wayne does that too much, like in that song 4 my town, he says I've been runnin this game, blisters, and in the same song he says another line, I know the game, analyst

also nicki minaj does that **** alot and ludacris did it in that my chick bad song, in which he says lines like I fill her up, balloons, its not even a comparison, and it's kinda weak, its funny i was thinking about asking a similiar question, and i also refer to it as word association.

Kanye west does that a lot in Forever.

You can't really expect much from a bunch of shitty mainstream rappers who are only in it for the money. Why would they sit there and write a creative/thought provoking song when they can write some dumb **** like this in 5 minutes, knowing they'll make millions off it?
