Ok on a interview Eminem said lil wayne was keeping Hip Hop alive. do u think he just said that for popularity or what? I kinda see him as a hypocrite becuase he said that he is fed up with the hip hop industry and how its looking when he did a fu*king song with lil wayne and drake.

in my opinion, wayne is not a rapper. he's a pop star (with an okay flow and a knack for wordplay) that happens to have an interesting and weird enough sounding voice to keep people enthused by his music. i'm pretty sure most of the people who grew up listening to hip hop legends (eric b, rakim, de la sol, afrika bambaataa, wu tang, public enemy, nas, biggie, dr dre, 2pac, ice cube, eazy-e, boogie down productions, scarface, slick rick, snoop dogg (his old stuff), nwa, the fugees, jay-z, outkast........) are aware that mr. carter doesn't bring anything special to the table except fun arrangements of words in lyrics and his weird voice. other than that he's no different than the other s**t out there now. i'd like to assume that eminem only means that wayne is keeping hip hop (as a business) alive and not as a serious contending style of music.

Lil' Wayne has gotten huge in the past few years.

Even Eminem's new songs did not get half as much radio play as most of Lil Wayne's newer songs.

Is he keeping hip hop alive in terms of that quality we all miss from years ago? Not really, but he's keeping listeners on their toes, he has an insane amount of energy, and he's willing to work with a lot different of people. Lil Wayne is going where the spotlight is and since he's a hip hop artist, then hip hop goes with him.

You guys don't understand something. Take Wayne and Drake out of the radio, and what do you have left? A bunch or REALLY REALLY REALLY crappy rappers that don't even have sh*t on Wayne. That's why he said that Wayne is keeping hip-hop alive. There are lots of people out there who only listen to the radio, and not any old school or underground. So if it wasn't for Wayne, most of the population wouldn't be listening to any hip-hop at all.

i dont believe that Eminem thinks lil wayne or drake are "saving" hiphop. this is 100% my opinion, but i think Eminem respects wayne and drake as artists, because many people like them. but in a personal way, i think Eminem doesnt like wayne or drake, probably because 50 had beef with lil wayne.

Eminem probably just said that wayne is keeping hiphop alive just because he respects him as an artist since there are so many people who like them. on the personal level, once again, he probably doesnt like wayne or his music.

ps. i think Eminem wasnt even in the studio when the actual making of Forever was taking place. i heard that Eminem just recorded his verse in his own studio and sent it to drake, and not actaully see drake or wayne face to face..so..

@ annie, Eminems songs have never gotten significant airplay and by you saying his latest album dident get as much airplay as lil wayne only shows that you dont know about the radio industry. his songs have mainly always been radio un-friendly but hugely popular, another reason that he is perticular. usually its two singles or three max. on Relapse he brought out 4 singles, the biggest of his career. and I agree with whoever said take Wayne out of radio, everyone will be shown to be people who cant hold their own against soulja boy....

Lil Wayne isn't keeping hip hop alive. Because it can't die.

But he does make it interesting. I have been saying that.

If you don't believe so, then you need to take that emo stick out your ***.

That's universal talking through eminem. Em knows damn well that wayne and cash money were what started to kill hip hop 10 years ago.

Think he just said that to promote an "image". Forever was just for flex IMO. Don't take it the wrong way, he knows Wayne is whack.
