Are These Rappers really one-hit wonders?

Is wikipedia wrong or is Raekwon and the other rappers on the list really one-hit wonders

No way! He had "Just a Friend" "Somethin for the Radio" "Make the music With Your Mouth" "Nobody Beats the Biz". Mainstream people usually only recognize "Just a Friend" so they consider that his only hit.

The list contains recording artists who reached the Top 40 of the U.S. pop chart (the Billboard Hot 100) with just one single. Note some artists are NOT considered one-hit wonders despite having only one hit single; these are shown in italics. "A" indicates an airplay hit (when a physical single was not released)



as you may have noticed, some artist's names, such as ODB or Pun, were written in italics, which shows you that although they only had one song on the U.S. top 40, they were certainly not considered one hit wonders.

I think it's different for rappers when determining 'one-hit wonders'.



That list only records singles which placed in the top 40 for radio play.



It doesn't take into account things like group songs:

Raekwon in Wu-Tang

Everlast in House of Pain

ODB in Wu-Tang



It also doesn't take into account success with stuff that never made it to, or was never intended for radio.



Big Pun was NOT a one hit wonder, he's often named as one of the more gifted MCs, but not a lot of his stuff was never intended for top 40 radio.



So I guess it all depends on who's definition of 'hit' you're going by.
